SITE RELIABILITY ENGINEER , edX , to help develop and maintain the infrastructure in AWS for all services and systems required to run the edX website. The team primarily focuses on the provisioning, configuration, deployment, and monitoring of services at edX. The edX production environment is hosted in AWS on servers running Ubuntu Linux and is actively working on extending its use of containerization, specifically via Docker. Responsibilities include helping to build tools to automate, deploy, and monitor high-availability systems; working with developers and staff to maintain and improve the infrastructure of edX; rapidly diagnosing and resolving faults with services and communicating to users as appropriate; helping the open-edX community who are standing up the edX platform and making contributions to edX's open-source code; and continuously improving and learning, taking on varying projects, and consistently evaluating new technology.
REQUIRED : four years' professional experience with at least two years spent being responsible for production systems; adept in programming languages, preferably Python experience; working knowledge of Linux both as an end-user and as an administrator; experience running web applications in a production environment; and strong business communication skills for interfacing with technical and non-technical business stakeholders. Experience with some of the following technologies would be ideal: Nginx, MySQL, MongoDB, and Django environments, and Splunk, Git, and Jenkins. Familiarity with a configuration management system such as Ansible, Puppet, and/or Chef preferred; as is understanding of general CS concepts including performance and data structures. Job #16920-Q
