The primary purpose of the position is to serve as a general education advisor to prospective, new, and reentry adult and nontraditional students. The position responsibilities also encompass the following areas of responsibility: develop, direct, and administer programs and services for adult nontraditional students using effective and efficient organizational skills, advise students in the Adult Student Admission Program, and assist in developing the marketing and communication materials for programs, activities, and services. The professional assists 49er Finish prospective students with the transition of the enrollment process to include knowledge of academic policy, university services/resources, and support services. The professional works with academic departments’ administrative staff and university faculty to determine completion options for 49er Finish students. The professional analyzes data and evaluates programs and services for adult students. The professional acts as a problem solver by following up on individual student's issues.The professional provides Saturday orientation and open house events for prospective, newly admitted, and enrolled students. This position will advise on general education requirements, university policies, and resources and services to adult students served by the OASES program. The professional advises prospective students, 49er Finish prospects and enrolled students, and students in the Adult Student Admission Program. The professional assists in developing communication and marketing pieces to market programs and services. The advisor uses an organized, effective, and efficient management and evaluation approach to positively impact students' educational experiences. The advisor will collect and analyze data, prepare reports on prospective and current students of the program and present to constituencies as needed, and present to constituencies as needed.
The professional serves as the primary advisor and coordinator for the 49er Finish Program. The professional works with university officials to identify former students who qualify for the 49er Finish program and then initiates and implements recruitment, marketing, and graduation plans for 49er Finish students. The professional works with faculty and staff in academic departments to identify degree completion options for 49er Finish students and other Part Way Home students.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Master's Degree from an accredited institution in adult or higher education, student personnel, liberal arts, or related field.
At least two years of advising experience in higher education or an equivalent capacity of service.
In addition to regular operating hours, the candidate must be available to work a rotational schedule of evenings each week and several Saturdays annually.
