The Recruiting Specialist provides recruiting support to the Health Sciences Human Resources Sr. Recruiting Specialists. This position provides recruiting support and consulting services to faculty and staff hiring managers for JHU Health Sciences, which includes the School of Medicine, Bloomberg School of Public Health, and the School of Nursing.
Primary duties and responsibilities will include
Providing operational and administrative support in a high-volume, fast-paced recruiting environment. Performing extensive candidate research and sourcing activities.
1. Partner with Sr. Recruiting Specialists to screen a high volume of inbound resumes and recommend qualified candidates. Build candidate pipelines to fill current and anticipated vacancies.
2. Write and edit ads and postings in collaboration with recruiter and hiring officials. Make recommendations on advertising venues.
3. Coordinate onsite and phone interviews between candidates, recruiters and/or hiring managers.
4. Provide full-cycle recruitment, as needed, for a limited number of basic/routine positions within assigned departments. Supply and discuss relevant information on job applicants with the responsible hiring manager for their
consideration and decision.
5. Screen employment applications, conduct employment interviews, and perform employment verification and background checks.
6. I-9 verification; stay abreast of international compensation and hiring regulations and visa processes as needed.
7. Update candidate records and job postings in JHU recruiting system.
8. Conduct new employee on-boarding sessions.
9. Represent the University at job fairs, career days, campus visitations and community outreach activities and other sourcing activities.
10. Assists university employees seeking positions as a result of reductions in force.
11. May work on special employment projects.
Position will also provide some administrative support including acting as a back-up for the front office (answering phones, assisting walk-in applicants with online process, etc.)
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology or other related field from a regionally accredited college or university. One year of related recruitment experience. Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU Equivalency Formula.
Special skills and knowledge:
Must have the ability to work collaboratively with others. Must have proficiency working with the web, databases and spreadsheets, as well as word processing and electronic mail. Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities. Creativity and resourcefulness needed to be able to handle various HR issues and concerns effectively while maintaining confidentiality; the ability to problem solve and resolve conflict; the ability to research, analyze and interpret data; the ability to communicate well verbally and in writing; the ability to anticipate needs and follow through; ability to exercise independent judgment and multitask, prioritize, and disseminate information accurately in a fast paced environment; excellent judgment and demonstrate strong initiative and energy, as well as a cooperative spirit. Excellent writing, communication and Microsoft Office skills.
JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis.
The ideal candidate has a minimum of two years related recruitment/HR experience; possess a PHR, SPHR, or some related human resource certification; has experience with diversity recruitment, benefits administration, and immigration regulations.
