The Department of Neurological Surgery is seeking an Associate Specialist. Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service. The responsibilities of the specialist are: cell and nuclei extraction from fresh and frozen tissues, DNA and RNA extractions and quantifications, preparation of next-generation sequencing libraries, supervision of genomics pipelines, development of genomics assays. Specialists appointed at the Associate rank must at minimum must possess a master’s degree (or equivalent degree) or at least 5 years of experience in the relevant specialization. Experience with preparing next-generation sequencing libraries and standard molecular lab techniques is required. Expertise in single-cell sequencing methods and post-graduate training in field are preferred.
