2019 Lecturer Pool - Classroom and Online Instruction - School of Public Health
The School of Public Health at the University of California, Berkeley invites applicants for a pool of qualified temporary lecturers to teach our residential and online programs, including fall and spring classroom instruction, our On-Campus/Online Master of Public Health (OOMPH) online education program, and for Berkeley Summer Sessions. Screening of applicants is ongoing and the number of available positions varies throughout the year. The positions are part-time, with a work effort often ranging from 17% to 33%; Berkeley Summer Sessions is paid on a by-agreement basis.
The lecturer pool will remain open until January 31, 2020 to accommodate the School's instructional needs. Only completed applications will be reviewed and candidates under consideration will be contacted by the hiring team. All Lecturer positions are governed by the policies of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) of the UC-AFT union.
General duties: In addition to teaching responsibilities, duties include: developing and/or preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus, OOMPH videos, etc.), holding office or discussion hours, assessing student work and assigning grades, advising students, responding to email, and maintaining a course website.

Advanced degree or enrolled in an advanced degree program at the time of application
Additional qualifications required:
By the start date, advanced degree, or equivalent international degree
Public Health is interdisciplinary in its core and breadth curriculum, both in our residential and online programs, and a successful applicant will have expertise in at least one of the areas of specialization listed below
Professional work experience in the field of expertise
Prior college-level teaching experience
Salary Range: Salary commensurate with degrees currently held, professional experience, and prior college-level teaching experience. On the MOU salary scale, the current minimum annual academic full-time salary rate is $54,738. Salary will be prorated based on the work effort and duration of appointment. Berkeley Summer Sessions appointments are paid by-agreement per session.
