The Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC) is a growing national non-profit consortium working to advance equity and excellence in the higher education workforce. The Greater Missouri Higher Education Recruitment Consortium’s mission is to advance the efforts of member institutions to attract and retain outstanding and diverse faculty and staff, and to assist dual-career couples. Our distinguished members are colleges and universities, and medical, cultural and research institutions located in the region.
The Director of the Greater Missouri Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC) is responsible for providing overall leadership to the organization including maintaining and expanding the regional HERC membership by establishing relationships with area colleges, universities, hospitals, research labs, government agencies and related non-and for-profit organizations to market HERC services and support. The Director will establish partnerships with, manage, and provide leadership to Greater Missouri HERC members, as well as work collaboratively to identify and implement effective strategies to address recruitment and retention challenges. The Director will manage and grow the Greater Missouri HERC’s operating budget; oversee its governance structure; organize and lead events; lead advertising and marketing efforts; serve as business lead for the website and related technology; manage ongoing inter-HERC relationships across regional and national constituencies; design and deliver metrics for evaluating institutional success; and represent Greater Missouri HERC on the National HERC Advisory Board and in other forums.
Develop new institutional memberships
Create regular communications for members to increase engagement and ensure renewals
Process renewals (invoicing, fee collection, etc.) and maintain accurate and up-to-date member and prospective member contact lists
Communicate within HERC’s online community portal, HERConnect, to maintain engagement with HERC’s online community.
Plan and produce professional development conferences and networking events for member institutional representatives
Organize regular meetings of the regional advisory council and develop the agenda in consultation with the Council chair
Identify opportunities to reach out to veterans, disabled individuals, women, and underrepresented minorities in the region to promote the regional HERC, including specialized job fairs, alumni and campus events, etc.
Collaborate with HERC’s Central Office to evaluate program impact and member satisfaction
Provide data on diversity outreach to member institution representatives
Facilitate collaboration among member representatives when dual-career needs arise
Form regional organizational partnerships that contribute to HERC’s mission
Develop an annual budget in consultation with the regional advisory council and provide regular income and expense reports
Meet or exceed annual revenue goals and seek additional funding streams
Once or twice yearly travel to Central HERC Advisory Board meetings
Service on at least one Central HERC committee
Performs related duties as assigned.
Must be able to travel to member and prospective members. Position requires some degree of travel.
Under the direct supervision of the regional governing board.
$30-40 / hour.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: At least three years of project management experience, including financial, operational, technology and/or marketing responsibilities Sales and/or customer service experience required. Previous success managing a growing and evolving organization. Proven strategic planning and business management skills. Excellent organizational, written and presentation skills required. Must be detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities. Excellent communication skills, creativity, and a willingness to be flexible and work with others. Experience working in higher education a plus.
