Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Controller's Department at Iowa State University is seeking qualified candidates for an Accountant III within the Financial Accounting and Reporting Office.
Responsible for managing and directing oversight of self-supporting fee-for-service operations of the University. A member of the team of accountants responsible for the preparation of the University’s annual financial statements. The position performs various functions to support the Controller's Department and the Financial Accounting and Reporting Office, which may include reconciliations, chart of account maintenance, and account monitoring.
The successful candidate will have the ability to comprehend, interpret and apply generally accepted accounting principles, federal costing requirements, and University policies and procedures. The candidate must also possess strong computer skills (including spreadsheet and database) as well as excellent oral and written communications skills. Strong analytical and problem solving skills, excellent organizational and time management skills, and the ability to work independently or within a team will be essential for success in this position.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Accounting experience in financial statement preparation and/or auditing of financial statements Experience monitoring for compliance with policies Accounting experience in higher education or non-profit organization
