Engineering-Liberal Arts and Sciences Online Learning (ELO) at Iowa State University seeks applicants for the position of Instructional Development Specialist to provide online and blended course development and faculty support services for the College of Engineering and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
This position will meet with teaching faculty to help determine appropriate pedagogical approaches to synchronous and asynchronous online courses, advise faculty in the design and development of online learning experiences, provide guidance in the production of new and evaluation of existing online instructional materials, and assist faculty with implementing online and blended pedagogy. In addition, this position will work with the Design and Development team to research new and innovative pedagogies and develop instructional materials, monitor projects, and instruct faculty and staff in the use of online technologies. This position will also create online learning experiences for credit courses and non-credit professional development. Furthermore, the Instructional Development Specialist will provide user support through phone calls, email, and in person, for course management software such as Canvas. This position manages course and user accounts and will be responsible for participating in collaborative user support activities with other team members in the department.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree and 1 year of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Degree in Education, Communication, Instructional/Educational technology, Instructional Design, Curriculum and Instruction, Computer Science or related technology or education field.
Experience that demonstrates working in a team environment as well as independently.
Experience in developing and facilitating faculty design online courses informed by theories of teaching and learning and best practices.
Experience providing user support assistance with the application of multimedia tools and web-based applications.
Additional experience providing faculty development and instructional design in distance learning.
