Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Materials Science & Engineering (MSE) in the College of Engineering at Iowa State University seeks qualified applicants for a Department Administrator to oversee daily operations of the MSE Department and to assist the Department Chair.
The Department Manager will assist the department chair, associate chairs, and other administrators in overseeing Department operations, developing the department's strategic direction, and leading process and efficiency improvements of departmental operations. This position will also serve as liaison between MSE faculty and staff and other university constituents.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience totaling 5 years. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience managing the operations of an office serving faculty, staff, and students.
Experience in a complex administrative setting providing support to a senior or executive administrator
Experience coordinating travel, calendars, projects and events
