The incumbent will provide technical support within the Student Financial Services Office, performing the following duties with accuracy, independence, originality, and discretionary decision-making.
The incumbent will manage complex reports and processes including preparing the Annual Fee Report and coordinating the IRS 1098T process; interpreting IRS laws and regulations regarding financial reporting and implement changes necessary to ensure compliance.
Reconcile various campus accounts including the Perkins and Federal Work Study accounts, prepare journal entries and post entries to the general ledger and student financial systems.
Manage the past due balances and collections process, including communications, skip tracing, repayment agreements and placements with several collection agencies and FTB.
Process bankruptcies and ensure all legal aspects are met.
The incumbent will be required to compile information, analyze, and complete complex reconciliations, understand and assure accounting reporting systems, ensure that policies and procedures comply with existing laws and regulations.
The incumbent will also be required to issue financial aid and other refunds in accordance with Title IV regulations.
Additionally, the incumbent will handle inquiries, disseminate information and explain account issues to students, faculty or staff, including resolving problems via telephone and at the service window.
The incumbent will use personal computers, software applications, along with other accounting systems, operate standard office machines; and perform other related duties as assigned.
The incumbent will also provide one-on-one training as needed to campus departments.
Work assignments may involve subject matter Comprehensive knowledge of financial record-keeping, mathematical and general office methods, procedures, and practices.
Knowledge of current spreadsheet software programs.
Basic knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Incumbents at the advanced journey-level must exercise considerable judgment, initiative, and independence to achieve results.
Must be able to interpret and apply a wide variety of written rules and regulations.
Maintain accounting records for funds, programs, or activities involving multiple transactions,
Compile, verify, and reconcile financial data.
Use current computer word processing and spreadsheet software programs, web browsers, query tools, integrated financial systems and/or other types of records management systems, such as student accounting, cashiering and student financial aid.
Investigate and resolve errors and discrepancies.
Read and interpret computer-generated reports.
Equivalent to four (4) years of progressively responsible financial record-keeping experience which has provided the above knowledge and abilities.
One-year experience with student information systems.
One-year experience in interpreting and applying policies.
One-year experience providing customer service.
Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities.
A Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU.
