Conducts research in support of the research efforts of Youngstown State University as part of the collaborative Advanced Manufacturing Research Center (AMRC). In particular, this position would involve research and development in the use of additive manufacturing technologies in support of aerospace maintenance and sustainment. Both metal casting and metal laser powder bed fusion technologies will be investigated in this research.
Master's degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field with at least graduate-level research experience; must be a U.S. citizen due to the nature of U.S. government external funding.
Experience with materials related standards that would be relevant to qualification protocols; experience using a variety of materials characterization methods including mechanical testing, microscopy, and analytical testing; experience with additive manufacturing, metal casting and metallurgical sample preparation.
