Description The Recruitment and Admission Specialist is an exempt position that reports to the Welcome Center director. The position performs complex work under general direction, and takes a lead position in coordinating recruitment activities that lead to admission and class registration for prospective and newly admitted students.
This position is responsible for developing, implementing and analyzing comprehensive recruitment strategies to increase registration of new students at Bellevue College. The position also initiates academic coaching, disseminates current information about academic programs, and support services to students who are new to BC. In addition to traditional recruitment responsibilities, assignments include a special emphasis on specific populations of students. A successful candidate is detail oriented, works well autonomously, has strong communication skills, collaborates with internal departments, and represents the college on various committees within BC and communities within the college service area.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT The Welcome Center supports the mission of Bellevue College (BC) by providing high quality, flexible and accessible services that support student access to educational opportunities that advance pluralism, inclusion, and global awareness. The Welcome Center is one of six departments that make up Student Central, which is a single service area for students, the public, and the campus community. Student Central provides comprehensive and confidential service and information for programs identified as Enrollment Services, Evaluations & Graduation, Financial Aid, Placement & Testing Services, and Academic Advising.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL DUTIES
Entry advising to prospective student applicants about opportunities available at Bellevue College that may include but not limited to: the admissions process, financial literacy, academic preparation, and first quarter enrollment planning into the college. Such advising takes place through off-site visits, in-person appointments, information sessions, phone calls and emails. Collaborate and coordinate with Student Central departments, and across the institution to provide service and information based on individual student need. Representing the Bellevue College at high schools, community events, college fairs and on-campus information sessions and events. Assisting in outreach and recruitment programs and events both on and off campus. Supervise and coordinate the recruitment and outreach efforts of other Welcome Center staff and student employees, and participate in professional development and training activities. Development of productivity and status reports. Other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/CORE COMPETENCIES MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Three years' experience working with students from diverse ethnic, socio-economic, educational backgrounds, and etc. in aneducation setting One year experience supervising full and part time employees Two years' experience working with a CRM (Customer Relations Management) system, and databases. Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills (application materials are used to evaluate written skill level) Experience giving presentations to small and large groups Ability to plan and prioritize work requirements and independent decision-making capabilities. Have valid driver's license Ability to work flexible hours including some evening and weekend hours
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Two years' experience working in a higher education or community college setting
