Description The Heating, Ventilation, & Air Conditioning (HVAC) Supervisor leads journey HVAC techs in the maintenance, installation, and repair of heating, ventilation,and air conditioning systems, including types of laboratory and experimental HVAC equipment. The lead role is to provide direction knowledge to the mechanics in order to maintain a safe environment for faculty, staff and students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL DUTIES
HVAC Supervisors: assign maintenance and repair work of HVAC techs and assist in trouble shooting requested work. Perform work assigned: perform all duties of a HVAC tech which includes diagnosing problems and making necessary adjustments or repairs; estimate time and materials use; use hand and power tools; weld and solder. May perform work in other trades. Perform related duties as required. Design repair modifications to improve operation of equipment or to replace obsolete parts. Knowledge and abilities: knowledge of standards and practices, methods, tools, and equipment used in HVAC work, principles of operation of HVAC systems; occupational hazards and safety practices of HVAC trade. Preventive Maintenance: develop and maintain a schedule of preventive maintenance which would include; listing of all HVAC systems; identification information; parts lists; locations and all relevant information; keep shop and repair manuals up to date. Estimates of work and records: prepare estimates of repair work as requested and keep records of repair work performed to facilitate future work and methods of maintenance. Order parts and materials as necessary to carry out repair and maintenance work.
QUALIFICATIONS/CORE COMPETENCIES Minimum Qualifications Two years HVAC Mechanic work experience with journeyman standing. Vocational training may be substituted for work experience on a year-to-year basis Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required
