The Chairperson of the Leadership Studies and Adult Education program reports to the College of Education Dean and serves as the chief administrative and academic leader of the department which includes six full-time faculty. The Chairperson will be expected to provide visionary leadership of an innovative interdisciplinary program to enhance and diversify program offerings with a strong practitioner-researcher emphasis. In addition to the general oversight of the department, he or she will be responsible for strategic planning; budget development, management and allocation; recruitment and retention of faculty and students; faculty, staff, and student development; management and improvement of curricula; evaluating faculty performance for the allocation of awards; fundraising; interacting with other department and university leaders to represent the goals of the department. The chairperson must implement strategies to increase recruitment, retention, and graduation rates of students in all degree programs.

The Department of Leadership Studies and Adult Education currently offers an interdisciplinary PhD degree in Leadership Studies and a Master's Degree in Adult Education. The master's degree program in Adult Education prepares professionals to become leaders for adult learners in businesses, for-profit and non-profit organizations, community colleges, and four-year institutions of higher education. Our students represent a wide array of disciplines from both public and private sectors. The Leadership Studies doctoral program is an interdisciplinary degree designed to prepare professionals to become transformative scholars in the leadership discipline.

The candidate must hold an earned doctorate in leadership studies, adult education, or related field and be eligible to be tenured at the Associate or Full professor level within the Department of Leadership Studies and Adult Education. He or she must have demonstrated excellence in leadership and administration, with a minimum of five years of experience in an administrative and/or teaching position at the university level.
Preference will be given to candidates with a strong record of publication, effective grant writing, and demonstrated leadership in an academic setting. The successful candidate will be an imaginative and inspiring person who possesses a distinguished record of accomplishment of scholarly accomplishment and administrative experience as well as a person who appreciates the integration of learning, discovery, and engagement.
