The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Research Technician who will be a member of the Flow Cytometry Core Facility in a Pediatrics Research Lab at Rangos Research Center. The incumbent will be involved in providing cytometry services to researchers in the Department of Pediatrics, and other University of Pittsburgh departments based at Rangos, as well as to other clients of the core from other University of Pittsburgh units and other institutions. Services include cell sorting and cell analysis, as well as the design of multi-color approaches to suit the needs of clients. The incumbent will be reporting regularly to the senior technicians and to the Core Director. Additionally, the candidate will perform basic cell and molecular biological experimentation in a laboratory in the Division of Pediatric Rheumatology in the Rangos Research Center. Duties will include tissue culture of human and mammalian specimen cells, molecular and biological assays, processing and experimentation of clinical specimens, and assisting in maintaining mammalian specimen stocks. There could be occasions that the position will require flexibility with shift/hours. A Bachelor's degree in the basic sciences is required. Major in Physics/Biophysics is preferred. Experience in cell biology, molecular biology, and/or biophysical research is preferred. Mathematical/statistical and/or data management experience is desirable. This position is located at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh in Lawrenceville.
