The person in this position will establish strong relationships with stakeholders and colleagues on all UMN campuses. They will provide leadership and support for academic student services that rely on the interaction and development of student information systems and data analytics. The work will include supporting curriculum and transfer of academic credit system, operational deliverables, schedules, reporting and analytics. This person will have a deep knowledge of student records business processes and be able to lead change management and communication with diverse audiences.
A strong candidate will have experience in programming in College Source's systems TES and DARS systems, Oracle/Campus Solutions, Google eSuite technologies and other common tools along with knowledge of Higher Education academic programs, policies and student records practices. This person will daily use strong technical and non-technical oral and written communication skills in direct support of UMD's strategic mission. They will work with students but not on a daily basis. The work of this position requires collaboration with others in teams to assess current and future needs, recommend and implement best practices, and support academic record and information compliance including quality control procedures, testing and record audits. Assist in the supervision of staff and student employees including mentoring and coordinating professional development.
Essential Job Functions, Duties & Responsibilities: Business & Systems Analysis (30%)
Assess academic policy and requirements to identify curricular issues that may impeded students' progress toward the degree and academic objectives.
Analyze, design, program/encode, test, and troubleshoot the transformation of university curriculum and academic decisions into available information systems and student academic records.
Understand the relationships of student records related systems, including Oracle/Campus Solutions, curricular systems (PCAS, ECAS), transfer and degree audit systems (APAS), etc.
Support Office of the Registrar business process operations, providing direct services in the areas of information system research and support, operational calendar maintenance, scheduling and troubleshooting technically complex batch jobs including error report reconciliation.
Analyze, design, and maintain operational student records data analytics and the UMD Office of the Registrar operational schedule.
Gather information for departmental analytics and assist in the preparation of the departmental annual report.
Support daily operations of departmental business processes and student information system(s).
Understand and use best practices and industry standards for the benefit of students, staff, and faculty and external stakeholders.
Collaborate with a diverse group of managers and decision makers to identify and solve a variety of problems associated with business processes.
Consult with stakeholders on needs assessment with academic policy, business practice s and student information systems.
Translate functional needs into technical specifications for information system set up, enhancements or modifications.
Translate system design into written test plans and functional documentation.
Provide team leadership, including effective communication and participation in staff activities.
Develop reports, flow charts, diagrams, and other supporting materials to illustrate processes.
Prepare data and information that integrates across student records, financial aid, admissions, student financials, etc. includes charts, graphs, heat maps, etc.
Communicate information in an effective and timely manner; resolve problems with best practice solutions.
Write effective documentation and training materials and coordinate and/or deliver ongoing training.
Special Projects (30%)
Work in collaboration with the central Academic Support Resources team and experts from other University of Minnesota campuses on a variety of projects; requires the ability to manage scope, timeline and resources to meet deliverables that are both technical and operational connected to our robust and complex, student information systems.
Provide analysis, development, testing, documentation, and post -go live support for the implementation of projects.
Provide resolution to system integration problems; understand and implement best practice options for system efficiency and effectiveness.
Support the departmental involvement in system evolution, minor and major upgrade s and the investigation and adoption of new services including support of knowledge transfer.
Support established processes to assure data and process integrity, monitor for process improvement and efficiencies.
Recommend short and long-term goals for the department; participate in the establishment of departmental objectives and policy in line with the campus and university mission; assist in preparation of department budget.
Identify and promote student records, admissions, enrollment services and academic unit processes that will improve overall service quality.
Use qualitative and quantitative data to support data driven decisions and ensure achievement of strategic enrollment management goals.
Utilize best practices in all areas including change management for efficiency and effective service excellence.
Maintain a broad understanding of the interrelated business processes in student administration.
Perform on-going analysis and evaluation, establish performance benchmarks and enhance business processes and requirements in line with departmental goals.
Possess in depth knowledge of and remain in compliance with federal, state, local regulations and professional standards.

BA/BS degree and two years work experience in the areas of business or systems process analysis
Experience with analyzing and building transfer credit or degree requirement programming logic, student data queries and delivering user-friendly reports using standard query tools (SQR, SQL, etc.)
Experience with writing business process documentation and specifications.

Encoding/programming experience with transfer credit and degree requirements in DARwin/uAchieve and Oracle/Campus Solutions and data analytics.
Experience in data analysis, report writing, information system analysis, business process analysis, and change management.
Experience with Business Intelligence and web content delivery tools
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage schedules and produce reports
