ZSFG Richard Fine People’s Clinic Clinician-Educator
The Richard Fine People’s Clinic (RFPC, formerly known as the General Medicine Clinic) at the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG) is looking for a faculty member to join the University of California, San Francisco’s Division of General Internal Medicine (DGIM) at ZSFG. The position will be an Assistant or Associate Professor of Medicine in either the Health Science or Clinical Professor of Medicine series, and will be between 0.5 to 1.0 FTE depending on applicant experience and interests. RFPC is an academic primary care practice that cares for ~8,000 of the City’s most medically and socially complex patients, delivering well over 30,000 visits per year. RFPC also is a major teaching site for UCSF Internal Medicine residents (categorical and primary care). Approximately half of all patient visits are done by faculty and nurse practitioners; the remainder are carried out by residents.
We are seeking a dedicated clinician educator faculty member to have their own primary care clinic at RFPC. They will also supervise residents as a key member of our faculty precepting group. RFPC seeks a skilled clinician who has at least 2 years of experience in primary care/clinic administration and who has outstanding primary care teaching abilities. The position includes 1-2 2-week sessions serving on the Medicine Resident Inpatient Service at ZSFG. Applicants must be licensed clinicians, board-eligible in Internal Medicine; ABIM certification is preferred. Experience working in a safety net setting and with vulnerable populations is strongly preferred. A commitment to providing high quality care to the urban underserved is required.
Depending on interest and experience, applicants may be considered for the role of Associate Medical Director (AMD) for Practice Transformation and will join the RFPC Management Team to guide the clinic’s patient care, quality improvement and educational mission. As Practice Transformation Lead, a 25-30% FTE role, the AMD will guide RFPC's efforts to promote a team-based model of care and provide strategic vision to improve clinical care quality, patient experience and access, and provider and staff joy in practice. The RFPC Management Team operates using the lean leadership model so familiarity with lean skills and concepts is preferred. Please indicate in your cover letter if you would like to be considered for this additional AMD role.
DGIM at ZSFG has approximately 30 faculty members and three main centers of activity: providing medical care at RFPC and on the inpatient wards of the hospital; teaching UCSF medical students, residents, and fellows; and conducting research focused on generating new knowledge and policy to improve the care of vulnerable and underserved populations. ZSFG is a premier public hospital with a level 1 trauma center that also has a strong research enterprise. RFPC is part of The San Francisco Health Network, the city’s safety net health system that cares for ~110,000 patients annually in 13 primary care health centers throughout the city.
