This position is responsible for the admission, recruitment, and support of prospective undergraduate freshman and transfer students to WCU. This position is based in Asheville, NC on the A-B Technical Community College Campus. Duties for this position include, but are not limited to: 1 – Providing information to students and their families concerning the benefits of a college education and the available means of acquiring it. 2 – Disseminating specific and accurate information concerning admission, financial aid, academic programs, campus life, and academic advising at WCU to prospective students, families, and counselors. 3 – Traveling to community colleges and high schools for recruitment events and activities on a regular basis (i.e. Table Tuesdays, College Fairs, private visits, etc.). 4 – Evaluating academic credentials to determine admissibility and rendering admission decisions. 5 – Coordinating special projects related to student recruitment such as WCU’s Regionally Increasing Baccalaureate Nurses (RIBN) program. 6 – Traveling to the main WCU campus in Cullowhee a minimum of one day per month for monthly staff meetings, program coordination functions, and major recruitment events. 7 – Weekend travel is required at various times of the year based on recruitment events. 8 – Regular visits with ACA (Academic Related Courses) classes at A-B Tech and other regional community colleges.
A bachelors degree from an accredited institution. Must be eligible for and/or possess a valid North Carolina driver license.
An advanced degree and one year of admissions experience is preferred. Must be able to lift and/or move medium to heavy objects when setting up recruiting events.
