Under the general direction of the Associate Director of Admissions, the Senior Evaluator serves as the International Specialist (IS), a position requiring significant professional expertise in the complex area of interpretation and evaluation of international records. The incumbent provides leadership for Admissions and is responsible for all aspects of determining admission eligibility for foreign applicants at the freshman and transfer level. Performance of this role requires expertise acquired through significant experience working with international records. The IS is an active participant in Interdepartmental and System wide meetings regarding the evaluation and admission of students presenting international records to the University. The incumbent is active in professional organizations relating to international admissions; consults with colleagues in the field; and makes professional presentations at local, regional and national conferences; serves on campus and system wide committees and work groups; and serves as liaison with colleges and academic departments. The IS promotes goodwill and public support for the campus and the University of California, maintaining a comprehensive overview of the goals and objectives of the University.
The Office of Admissions at the University of California, Santa Cruz, is dedicated to providing service to prospective, new, and continuing students pursuing an undergraduate education. In carrying out our mission, we promote the campus and its programs to prospective students and their representatives, as well as the public at large; we admit and enroll students that reflect the values and commitment of the campus faculty and administration, and we ensure those students a smooth transition to the start of their academic careers at UCSC; we assist continuing UCSC students in the timely completion of their degrees. The evaluation unit is a subset of the Admissions team and focuses primarily on evaluation of student records for admission to the campus, awarding of transfer and general education credit, as well as implementation of outreach, recruitment and yield activities.
Advanced knowledge of project management including program design, implementation, and evaluation.
Advanced knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population.
Ability to interpret policies and procedures to prospective students and the public.
Advanced and comprehensive knowledge of academic programs, including curricula, admissions requirements, and financial aid programs, at colleges / universities.
The position requires working occasional nights/weekends. Traveling to and from schools/community colleges and meeting locations with overnight stays as needed. During the months of January through March, staff requests for vacation will not be approved in order to complete the review and selection of the freshman and transfer class.
Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.
