The Communications Specialist works within the Department of Communications to lead the internal communications effort at Chapman University. The position is responsible for establishing policies and procedures concerning the University's internal messaging as well as developing and launching new tactics for reaching campus audiences. Responsibilities include assisting with messaging on campus digital signage (located throughout the campus), weekly email newsletters distributed to all members of the campus community, special announcements, internal events and announcements, messaging on campus intranet, and all other efforts concerning internal communications. The Specialist will also develop introductory and training materials concerning policies and procedures for new employees, in particular those tasked with communications effort within their positions. Serves as the internal storyteller for Chapman University, is an important internal “brand ambassador” and is responsible for sharing the Chapman Experience with all campus constituents. May contribute internal news to The Chapman Magazine and the Online Newsroom website. Collaborates closely with the Communications Team and all members of Strategic Marketing and Communications.
Bachelor’s degree in Communication, English, Public Relations or a related field.
At least four years of demonstrated communications experience and/or related field, with proven experience of excellent communication skills.
Knowledge of internal communications in a professional environment.
