The OB/GYN hospitalist will serve as the attending physician for hospital coverage for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. This provider will present in the hospital for supervision and education of resident physicians and students. Provider is responsible for coverage of labor and delivery, emergency department, inpatient consultations and OB/GYN inpatient admissions. They will be in attendance for all resident performed procedures during their assigned shifts. Supervision of care of triage patients will be expected to allow for compensation for these visits. Completion of corresponding medical records and billing worksheets is required. Evaluations of students and resident physicians will be performed on an ongoing basis. Clinical education in the form of didactic lectures, informal discussions, and precepting is expected.
The expected time commitment will average two twenty-four shifts per week (eight shifts per month). These shifts will occur during both weekday and weekend days and be assigned in conjunction with the other OB/GYN hospitalists and general OB/GYN physicians in the call rotation.
Clinical research and performance improvement projects, in conjunction with residents and students will be expected.
This position will report to the Chair or Vice Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The position is based on an annually renewing contract assuming deliverables are achieved.
Positions are contingent upon contract funding.
