Service Worker, Campus Center Events (Part-time, Contractual) - (160001MA)
The University of Maryland, Baltimore Campus Life Services is in search of a part-time Event Service Worker at the SMC Campus Center . Event Services is responsible for the management and operations of special event/meeting spaces within the SMC Campus Center. This position will have access to multiple shift opportunities, predominantly during the evenings and weekends. Under direct supervision, the selected candidate(s) will provide administrative and logistics support to the full time event staff. Duties generally include assisting with meeting space, set-ups and strike (moving and/or storage functions), and ensuring all spaces are prepped and ready for conference/event guests. All staff will create a welcoming environment for guests and maintain standards for a high level of customer service.
****This position is a non-benefited, Contingent Category I contractual position; evening and weekend hours are required***
Assist with daily set-up and strike process for events and ensure guest requirements are met. Move office furniture and equipment to designated locations.
Assist with maintaining clean event spaces when needed.
Maintain awareness of daily event schedule and all related information during shift, including ability to direct clients/patrons to event locations.
Maintain storage areas and keep accurate inventories of all equipment and furniture including, but not limited to: tables, chairs, easels and flip-charts, signage stands, and AV equipment.
Enforce and adhere to all relevant policies/procedures as set forth by Event Services and the SMC Campus Center.
Complete daily reports and other documents as required.
Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: High School Diploma/GED preferred.
EXPERIENCE : Experience providing logistical support, such as moving office equipment/furniture is preferred.
OTHER : Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES Ability to read, write, and perform arithmetic calculations; to follow oral and written instructions; to perform physical work requiring bending, stooping, reaching, carrying, and frequent heavy lifting; to work in adverse weather conditions.
Based on the duties of this position, selected candidates are not eligible to participate in the Bargaining Unit (Union).
Hiring Range : $11.00 to $11.45 (hourly)
