Summary of Position: The Physical Education department seeks a dynamic leader with the ability to manage and advocate for a complex undergraduate program with evolving graduate programs. Seeking person with strong interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills as well as a demonstrated commitment to enhancing diversity.The chosen candidate will receive base salary and additional chair stipend.
Major Responsibilities: Responsibilities include leadership development of one of the largest PETE programs in the country, with approximately 500 undergraduate and graduate students. Supervise full-time faculty of 18 plus approximately 20 part-time faculty and student teacher supervisors. Minimal teaching responsibilities are included in the position. Works under the direct supervision of the Dean of the School of Professional Studies. Works closely with the faculty and staff within the department. Additional working relationships with faculty and staff in other college departments.
Required Qualifications: Earned Doctoral degree in physical education or related field; candidate must have college teaching experience in physical education or related field; candidate must have been tenured with a rank of Associate Professor or Professor; a demonstrated line of research; experience with administrative duties and responsibilities; and strong interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and the Specialized Professional Associations (SPA reports); demonstrated ability to manage on-line programs; experience with PETE program development; demonstrated commitment to enhancing diversity.
