The College of Health and Human Sciences at North Carolina A&T State University seeks a director for the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program who possesses a record of scholarly and professional achievements and has BSW program administrative and Council of Social Work Education (CSWE) BSW reaffirmation experience. The BSW program director position is a 9-month position. Candidates are expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching, a strong commitment to scholarship, service and collegiality.
Among the responsibilities of the program director are the administration of the BSW program, budgetary management, faculty development, instruction, academic advising, departmental assessment and accreditation functions and to interface with our sister campus, The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNC-G), on the joint field education program. As the BSW program leader, the director reports directly to the chair of the Department of Social Work and Sociology.
Additional duties include teaching undergraduate level courses, conducting research, student advising, student mentoring and recruitment, curriculum development, conducting scholarly activities and all other activities required for tenure. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, engaging in accreditation procedures, program assessment and service to the department, College and University as needed.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
The Department of Social Work and Sociology is one the largest programs in the College of Health and Human Sciences with an undergraduate and graduate enrollment of 403 majors in fall 2018 and currently has 12 full-time faculty. The department offers 3 degree programs: BA in Sociology, Bachelor of Social Work, Master of Social Work – joint program with UNC-G and PHD in Social Work — joint program with UNC-G.

Candidates must have a master of social work (from a CSWE accredited program) and a Ph.D. in social work or a Ph.D. in a closely related discipline. Candidates are expected to have at least 2 years of academic administrative leadership experience and an established record of research, publication, and professional accomplishments in social work to enable appointment at the rank of associate professor.
