Job Description Summary
Performs a variety of tasks as assigned by the Associate AD, Athletic Communications including, but not limited to, serving as media coordinator for various Olympic sports, producing media guides via desktop publishing, hosting events and conference and NCAA championships. This is a ten-month position which functions much like an internship.
Serves as media coordinator for a variety of Olympic sports (actual sports to be determined). Will handle all media-related functions for such sports including producing a media guide, writing press releases, and feature stories. Responsible for upkeep of statistics and hosting home events.
Responsible for media operations for various athletic events held on and off campus. Required to work all home men's and women's basketball games and all home football games.
Responsible for assisting in media operations for all ACC championships and NCAA playoffs held on campus.
Responsible for assisting with publicizing men's and women's basketball and football. Will be assigned part of weekly press notes and research projects.
Meets deadlines for producing media guides and press releases.
Travels with Olympic sport teams to provide Athletic Communications assistance.
Responsible for assisting with upkeep and maintenance of Athletic Department website.
Works with media, coaches, and student-athletes coordinating for interviews, appropriate media coverage, and press box issues.
Responsible for meeting publication deadlines with newspaper sport page, media guide deadlines, and schedule cards deadlines.
Responsible for budget for assigned sports' media coverage.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. Previous experience working in an athletic Media Relations office preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted. Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally. Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, noise, vibrations, hazards, and atmospheric conditions.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Working knowledge of Athletic Communications.
Proficiency with various types of software including Adobe InDesign, Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0, Photoshop, Microsoft Word, Statcrew, and other statistical packages.
Excellent writing and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong work ethic.
Knowledge of ACC and NCAA rules as they pertain to Athletic Communications/sports information.
Ability to work evenings and weekends.
