Job Description: Assistant, Associate, or Professor of German (Applied Linguistics)
The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Furman University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Professor of German, effective August 2019.
Ph.D. in German Applied Linguistics or related field preferred by August 1, 2019; ABD considered. Specialty open. Native or near-native fluency in German and English and prior teaching experience required. Candidates must demonstrate scholarly potential as well as commitment to and excellence in undergraduate instruction at all levels of German language and linguistics or related field. They must be dedicated mentors, enthusiastic study away directors, and energetic contributors to The Furman Advantage(https://www.furman.edu/furman-advantage/). Teaching load is five courses per year. Responsibilities include co-directing a study abroad program in Berlin, Germany, offering interdisciplinary courses that contribute to other programs (e.g. linguistics, gender and women's studies, language pedagogy, etc.), advising and teaching writing-intensive first-year seminars, and potentially developing and overseeing the Teacher Education Program for German.
