Essential Functions: Perform routine laboratory maintenance and research activities such as: general housekeeping, preparing solutions, media, stains, and buffers; Proficiency in cell biology/histology procedures, tissue processing (epon, paraffin), routine tissue sectioning/cryosectioning, confocal microscopy and other microscope use for a wide variety of tissue specimens. Ability to serial section specimens. Oversee routine maintenance of equipment (portable Oct, Micron IV, ERG) and associated small equipment.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in biology or field of study related to the research of the laboratory. Consideration may be given for a unique combination of education and experience.May require training related to animal handling, occupational safety and health, environmental compliance, shipping of hazardous materials and/or ionizing radiation.Ability to understand and utilize scientific/medical terminology and research theory in both verbal and written communications.Skill in statistical interpretation and data analysis using statistical software as well as spreadsheet and database software applications.Ability to use measurable and verifiable information for making decisions or judgements.
