Job Family: Marketing Job Series: Product/Program Manager Job Code: 4917 Grade: J Exemption: Exempt Schedule: Full-time Job Series Matrix URL: View PDFNote: Not all unique aspects of the job are covered by this job description Associate Director, Academic Programs Building on a foundation of offering classes to remote students since 1954, the Academic Programs team within the Stanford Center for Professional Development, part of the office of the Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning, has two primary areas of activity:
Engaging with Stanford faculty and supporting the development and launch of online and hybrid programs and courses
Extending access to Stanford classes that are taught on campus to worldwide audiences of remote learners
In collaboration with VPTL units including Instructional Design, Media and Production, and Educational Programs, VPTL and SCPD team members provide advice, support, and program management services to departments and faculty members who seek to make their classes and degree programs available to remote audiences. The Associate Director, Academic Programs will support activities in the two primary areas of activities listed above. Specifically, the AD will be responsible for (a) developing and executing the academic calendar for 200 Stanford classes that are made accessible to remote students, and (b) partnering with Stanford departments on the development of new classes and programs tailored for remote audiences. Core Duties:
Recommend and execute product/ program plan strategy, including portfolio development and marketing, to meet business objectives.
Build partnerships and engage groups that participate in program or product delivery.
Maintain a working knowledge of marketing plans as related to portfolio.
Deliver an experience that leads to high customer satisfaction and advocacy for the program.
Implement improvements based on analysis which improve processes, programs and business across the department.
High level of attention to detail
The ability to effectively partner with academic leaders and senior administrators
The ability to effectively leverage a highly matrixed organization
A strong can do attitude
The ability to lead a small team of specialists
Strong Excel skills, primarily for the conduct of business analysis, looking at indicators including number of enrollments, drop rate, etc.
Beyond strong operational skills -- scheduling classes, executing events, and project-managing various ad hoc initiative, to succeed in the role an individual must be able to imagine new ways to both conduct existing business and develop and launch new programs and classes.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED): Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated project/program management skills, including the ability to influence without authority and the ability to manage multiple projects/programs simultaneously.
The ability to work effectively with decision-makers across many levels of the organization.
Experience developing new business opportunities.
Demonstrated experience with various marketing elements (e.g. pricing, audience, channels, communication).
Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
