1. Strategic Partner: Work in close partnership with the unit leader, faculty, staff, students and service providers to develop and implement the unit's strategy, mission, and goals. Monitor external and internal factors influencing the mission and goals. Plan for financial and non-financial resources required to achieve unit goals. Support leaders in conceptualizing, prioritizing and planning new programs or program changes. Support, and as needed drive, the unit's process for strategic planning with key faculty and staff. 2. University Citizen: Connect the unit and University through communication, alignment of priorities, implementation of initiatives, and active engagement. Represent unit needs, challenges and opportunities at the University level. Proactively share knowledge and best practices with others. 3. Financial Analyst and Advisor: Provide comprehensive information, analysis and advice to enhance use of the Department's financial resources. Create and update financial plans, reflecting critical issues. Identify available current/future financial resources and advise on efficient use to best support Department objectives. Prepare budgets, analyze financial activities and performance against budget, adjust and take action as needed. 4. Risk Management Administrator: Implement and maintain internal controls to provide realistic assurance of effective and appropriate resource use, accurate financial information and adherence to contractual obligations, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Identify, communicate, address and escalate risks in a timely, appropriate manner to protect assets, resources, information and reputation of the Department and University. Ensure faculty and staff understand the regulations and Yale requirements as they pertain to their roles. 5. Talent Manager and Developer: Ensure the Department employs effective practices for retaining, attracting and developing talent in line with University guidelines and contractual agreements. Ensure all Department staff participate in the performance management and career development processes. Ensure the needs of the Department's current and future talents are assessed and issues are addressed. Facilitate the movement of talent where appropriate and develop Business Operations staff. Cultivate a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives in the Department. Assure that the Department follows School and University policies and procedures related to Human Resources. 6. Administrative and Clinical Operations Services Leader: Ensure efficient and effective completion of all administrative and financial services provided to the Department. Ensure high quality delivery of administrative services by providers outside the Department, including HR, IT, procurement, student services, post-doctoral affairs and faculty affairs. Responsible for building and managing a team of high-performing administrative and financial professionals. Accountable for high quality, coordinated and innovative clinical services. Plan for current and future personnel, facilities, and economic resource needs of the department. Assume accountability for operational planning, financial performance, and quality outcomes. Establish and maintain an environment of ongoing improvement, monitoring for quality of care, patient satisfaction and financial performance to achieve high quality, efficient and cost-effective patient care.
