The Department of Exercise Science in the Arnold School of Public Health at the University of South Carolina is searching for one tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate level to begin by August 2019. Candidates are sought who have a strong research focus on topics related to the prevention and treatment of childhood obesity (0-18 years) and the interaction among associated determinants of obesity (i.e., physical activity, sedentary behaviors, sleep, and diet). We are seeking applicants with interests in one or more of the following relevant topic areas:
Evaluation of interventions (e.g., Prevention or Treatment of Obesity)
Innovative study design and methodology (e.g., RCTs, Micro-RCTs, Sequential, Multiple Assignment, Randomized Trial— SMART)
Individual, Social, Environmental, and Behavioral determinants of obesity (e.g., Physical activity, Sleep, Screentime, Nutrition, SES, Race/ethnicity, Family, Intergenerational)
Advertised Minimum Qualifications :
Successful candidates will have an earned doctoral degree Exercise Science, Public Health or a related field relevant to the position, evidence of scholarly research, successful award of (Associate) or evidence of ability to obtain (Assistant) competitive funding to support a research program and to serve as an effective instructor and mentor. Although not required, completion of postdoctoral research training is strongly recommended for those applying at the Assistant Professor level. Candidates with established research programs will be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor.
