The Defense Resources Management Institute (DRMI) at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) invites applications for a non-tenure track faculty position in a defense resources management and analytical decision making education program, at a rank of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer. Applicants with degrees and relevant experience in Financial Management, Budgeting, Resources Management or a related field including Economics, Operations Research, and Decision Analysis are encouraged to apply. Prior experience working in or with Department of Defense (DoD) is preferred, and prior DoD experience in research and/or instruction is strongly preferred.
DRMI conducts professional education programs in defense resources management and analytical decision making for military officers of all services, senior civilian officials of the United States, and participants from over 160 other countries.
DRMI faculty are active teachers and scholars. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate teaching experience and excellent written and verbal communication skills. A strong candidate will have excellent methodological background in financial management, budgeting, resources management, economics, operations research or decision analysis, and DoD experience in financial management, budgeting, comptroller, resources management, or any aspect of decision analysis within defense. Candidates will be expected to make professional and intellectual contributions to DRMI programs including improvements in learning and pedagogy, practice, and academic discipline.
Candidates must be able to teach in an integrated, team-teaching environment in resources management short courses, and must be willing to travel internationally (generally no more than five weeks per year) and domestically. The candidate is expected to be available to teach year-round and be based in Monterey. Full time telework is not available; however, telework is available on a situational basis. The target starting date for the candidate ideally is May/June 2018. The search committee will begin reviewing applications 26 February 2018. The position will remain open until filled. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
