Facilities Assistant, Electrical and Computer Engineering-2007863
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) has an immediate opening for a Facilities Assistant. The Facilities Assistant will report to the ECE Senior Facilities Manager. ECE is an academic community just shy of 1,400 individuals (faculty, staff and students) and includes global research and teaching efforts through extensions of our academic programs and research in Silicon Valley, Portugal, Rwanda, Thailand and Singapore. In this role, you will support the Pittsburgh location which spans six buildings and 95,000+ square feet of dedicated space across the CMU campus as well as an off-site storage facility and common University areas. We are looking for someone who will possess superb customer service skills and attention to detail, and the physical and mental stamina to thrive in a busy and expansive academic community.
Under the direction of the ECE Senior Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for:
General facilities support: Day-to-day maintenance of facilities as directed by the Facilities Manager, including but not limited to minor repairs, replacing lights, monitoring cleaning services and reporting issues as needed, etc. Report serious problems or major repairs to the Facilities Manager and make recommendations concerning correcting the situation. Submit central Facilities Management Services (FMS) requests as needed and track responses. Triage and respond to facilities issues via email@example.com.
Shipping and receiving: Oversee the Department's receivables from intake to delivery. Assist customers with shipping needs. Track and monitor shipping/packaging material inventory, replenishing as needed. Utilize the response tracking or
