Job Description:
Position Purpose
The purpose of this position is to provide leadership and oversee the daily operations and administration of the Access Center to ensure access and implement coordinated support services for students with documented disabilities to enhance their academic success. Duties include but are not limited to assessing student needs and creating an educational plan, providing advocacy and support, ensuring the provision of reasonable accommodations, serving as a campus wide college resource and expert in disability law and policy, including ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and Minn State Access and Accommodations Policy. This position serves as the campus ADA contact and coordinator. In addition, this position provides education, training and/or support for prospective and current students and their parents, faculty and staff of the college and high schools regarding disabled student issues, including the NE Metro Consortium/916 Career and Technical Center (CTC).
Position Responsibilities
- Coordinate services campus wide to students with disabilities including determining accommodations and developing an educational plan.
- Provide, direct, and evaluate education, training and support for faculty and staff of disabled student issues and coordinate reasonable accommodations.
- Coordinate and manage activities of the Access Center.
- Coordinate services with interpreters for hearing impaired students.
- Work with other agencies and schools that serve disabled students so that they are aware of the services Century College provides.
- Purchase and maintain adaptive equipment for students with disabilities campus wide.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Three years' experience working with people with disabilities.
- Knowledge of and experience with disability policies, laws, and standards.
- Ability to review documentation and assess need for accommodations.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in rehabilitation counseling, social work, human services, counseling, or related field.
- Higher Education experience in the areas of disability services, advising or career and educational planning.
- Knowledge and experience of laws related to the confidentiality of student records in the higher educational setting.
- Knowledge of adaptive technology, and universal design.
