In this context, The Director of Digital Marketing will serve an integral role in the development of Northeastern University's outreach efforts within the digital space. This role serves as a thought leader in aligning the University's marketing efforts across key internal and external constituents with effective digital strategies that help meet program goals and objectives.
Specific responsibilities include: Aid VP/CMO and Marketing department in setting digital vision to align with broader strategic marketing plan.
Develop insight-driven digital strategies from opportunity identification through analysis and execution.
Collaborate with other internal NU digital and social leaders (undergraduate, graduate, Global Network) to identify opportunities to enhance digital reach and effectiveness.
Identify and cultivate potential external digital partnerships, leverage existing digital partners & devise compelling content programming to leverage these relationships.
Assist department head in constructing and managing functioning digital marketing team, including staff development and daily team supervision.
Lead digital creative & content teams as a fully integrated unit, leveraging brand and content consistency across all marketing vehicles.
Collaborate with various cross-functional and departmental leaders to provide necessary marketing support services to key university priorities
Establish clear and measurable benchmarks/KPIs of digital efforts as well as necessary reporting capabilities to properly evaluate and communicate progress.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in a wide range of digital areas, including social media, content marketing, community management, website architecture, SEO, analytics, ad serving, and CMS development. He/she will be a strategic thinker and sophisticated communicator that can leverage all facets of paid/owned/earned asset marketing. The candidate will have an understanding and passion for emerging digital technologies and how to apply to his/her strategic vision. The Director of Digital Marketing will also be a motivated, goal-oriented team leader who can thrive in a fast-paced environment, where flexibility, creativity, and resourcefulness are required for success. Lastly, this position requires a strong manager with the ability to delegate, manage teams, and influence peers at a high level.
Bachelors degree in marketing, communications or related discipline; Masters degree preferred.
7-10 years experience in digital functions including (not limited to) digital strategy, content marketing, digital advertising, website strategy and deployment, user experience and architecture, SEO strategy development
7-10 years experience in social media, including (not limited to), content development, community management, influencer marketing, emerging technologies
Highly creative with experience devising effective digital assets, digital campaigns, and web presence
Understanding of website analytic tools and usability testing; Google Analytics experience (certification preferred)
Demonstrated success in managing major strategic projects that support marketing and communications initiatives
Excellent communications skills with proven ability to communicate technical strategies clearly and effectively
Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative, cross-functional team environment
Proven ability to successfully work with vendors and agencies to produce results
Strong problem solving skills
Strong management skills, including prior experience in supervising interactive marketing professionals (not required)
Familiarity with content management systems required
Exposure to marketing automation systems and CRM systems required
Ability to proactively gain external industry knowledge and continued learning
